 Summary/ Objective

 

The Painter operates spray-painting equipment to apply protective coatings and paint to manufactured items or structures.

 

Job Responsibilities/ Essential Functions

    • Prepares, primes, sands, patches and paints to surfaces and fixtures utilizing all types of painting materials such as enamel, latex, epoxy, and water proofing and heat resistant finishes.
    • Mixes paint, enamel and lacquer to match colors.
    • Ensures paint is at the proper consistency and viscosity for spraying.
    • Applies paint with spray gun.
    • Operates, cleans and maintains all painting equipment including, HVLP sprayers, pumps, filters, etc.
    • Safely stores and labels all materials.
    • Maintains appropriate service and repair records of equipment.
    • May train and direct the work of other staff in the area
    • Safely operate paint and prep equipment and apply safety practices at work while performing job duties.
  • Reviews work order drawings and material certifications and verifies material, type, size of stock and dimensions in preparation to be painted
  • Issue and deliver material per job order as complete
  • Comply with all quality requirements while continually maintaining and improving the effectiveness of Berg's quality management system
  • Support and participate in department goals as well as company goals
  • Look for opportunities to learn and share your knowledge and skills
  • Punctual attendance; at your work area at shift start

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as algebra, units of money and quantities. Ability to apply concepts such as tolerance, fractions, and other measurements.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and deal with several concrete variables.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly exposed to wet, hot, cold or humid conditions while on delivery. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

 

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 40 hours per week. Shift changes may be required as business needs demand. Position may be subject to work overtime.

No travel required for this position.

 

Required Education and Experience

  1. Minimum of a high school education (or GED) and one year of factory-related experience.
  2. Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math.
  3. Basic Berg product knowledge desirable

  3. Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
